Desperate Dungowan have given teenage star Noah Hooley another major task when the Cowboys head to Moree tomorrow to play unbeaten competition leaders Moree Boars in their Round 10 Whitehaven Coal Group 4 first grade premiership clash.

The Cowboys sit sixth on the table eight points behind Moree and four adrift of equal fourth Boggabri and Werris Creek.

It’s a must win game for the Cowboys, agreed coach Jack Cameron.

The injured prop has been doing it tough on the sidelines and tough is the exact word he used to describe the Cowboy mission on Saturday.

“It is a tough trip,” said Jack Cameron.

“The boys are keen though, keen to go out there and give it a crack.”
The form of two of his teenagers, Noah Hooley and Braydon Allan, has been impressive and both have enjoyed good stints in the senior grade.

Allan has been an attacking star in the centres but will face two outstanding centres, in Alex Barker Junior and Mark Pegus, while Hooley has another change in position.

Hooley has played wing and centre while still eligible for the Under 18s and takes over at lock from Trent Taylor.

“Noah’s been going good,” Jack Cameron said.

“Been real good for us. Trent ent well at lock too but we’ve moved him again due to injuries. Noah was the next one to step up. He’s such a good kid and clubman. He can play anywhere. Just wants to play for us.”

Cameron said his side “just has to start winning”.

“We haven’t been going too bad,” he said.
