It’s time to roll up your sleeves for your annual flu shot and arm yourself against germs this winter.

Pharmacists are encouraging the community to book your flu vaccine today, and for many of us, it could be free.

Nadin Selman, owner and head pharmacists at Moree Amcal Pharmacy is ready to help.

“There is a higher prevalence of the flu towards our colder season, so it is important the community stays protected to stay ahead and make sure they are not getting sick and passing it on to those vulnerable in our community.” said Nadin.

Each year the vaccine is free for:

· Children aged 6 months to 5 years of age

· People with serious health conditions (severe asthma, diabetes, cancer, immune disorders, obesity, kidney, heart and lung or liver disease)

· Pregant women

· Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people

· People aged 65 and older

If this is your first time or your twentieth time, now is the time to get the jab.

“They capture the different strains every year, and every year is different, so making sure you get the vaccine will cover you for whatever strain is prevalent that season.” said Nadin.

And Moree Amcal Pharmacy taking their service to community above and beyond, with home and business visits to ensure the public’s safety.

“We are currently doing a drive, and even today I went out to certain farming communities and farming business and vaccinated their employees.” said Nadin

“I am actively reaching out to those in our community, not just offering store, but for larger groups and businesses a can also book in.”

If you are not eligible for a free flu vaccine, you can visit Moree Amcal Pharmacy, your local pharmacy or see your doctor to make an appointment.

Have you had your flu shot yet?
