The Squadron Energy Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic race weekend is back again, taking place on April 27-28, and will feature some welcome changes to make the classic that bit more interesting.

The traditional 228km gruelling race from Grafton to Inverell will be supported by several event options in 2024 that promote broader participation of the cycling community including the expansion of the Women’s National Road Series event from a one-day race into a two-stage race conducted over two days, the inclusion of a Pairs Relay, a Mt Mitchell to Inverell Open race and an Open Lake Inverell Circuit race on the Sunday.

Event organisers see the new additions attracting more riders to the region, driving even greater local participation and providing more opportunities for spectators to experience some of the best cycling racing in the country.

“Whilst the full distance race remains the feature of the weekend, it’s great that additional riders can now be part of the action, share the experience and contribute to the atmosphere of a fantastic weekend of racing,” says Event Director Chris Thompson.

The Cycle Classic Event coincides with Inverell’s Multicultural Festival, being held at Victoria Park, where the endurance cycle race will conclude.

The Multicultural Event promises a wide array of activities on offer for the community, including food from different cultures around the world, local entertainment including numbers played by the Sapphire City Concert Band, market stalls, as well as face painting and animals from Old Mac’s Farm for the kids.

The event kicks off at 11am through till 2pm
