An exciting learning journey awaits Tamworth families, as expressions of interest for HIPPY in 2024 are now open for local families with young children.

HIPPY is a free program runs for two-years for parents in the Tamworth LGA with children who are three or turning three before July 31.

The HIPPY acronym stands for Home Interaction Program for Parents and Young People.

TFSS Early Childhood Manager Kimberly Smart said HIPPY empowers parents as teachers, and helps children develop a curiosity and passion for learning.

“The activities that we choose are backed by research and our own experience supporting hundreds of families in the Tamworth region over the past 10 years.” said Kimberly.

“Safe to say, we have a lot of fun with our weekly activities and staff our HIPPY tutors thoroughly enjoy seeing families and children grow and learn.”

“The more activities that you and your child do together, the more you will see what an amazing learner your child can become with your help and attention.”

The HIPPY program works to help children develop literacy, numeracy, language, and physical motor skills before they transition into school.

“Studies show that developing these skills helps children to make new friendships, learn routines, and develop a sense of belonging in the new environment,” said Ms Smart.
