Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson is putting the ball in the court of local sporting organisations, encouraging them to apply for the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.

Mr Anderson said grassroots clubs can now apply for grants of up to $20,000 for initiatives that aim to increase participation in sport.

“We know how important it is to get up off the couch and stay active for our physical, mental and social wellbeing,” Mr Anderson said.

“Sport is the best way to do stay physically fit and active in our community, which is why I’m a big advocate for our local grassroots sporting organisations.

“Now is the time for our clubs to shine with funding available to increase participation in sport in our region.

“The Local Sport Grant Program provides an opportunity for our clubs to apply for up to $20,000 for an initiative that they know will increase participation in their sport.

“The best thing about this program is that $50,000 is guaranteed for the Tamworth electorate, which is great news for local clubs.”

Last year’s round of funding invested in a range of initiatives designed to increase participation in sport including:

  • Contact Training Equipment for Gunnedah Junior Rugby Club, $10,000
  • Golf Practice nets for Tamworth Golf Club, $10,000
  • 12 sets of lawn bowls for West Tamworth Sport and Bowling Club, $2659
  • Arena improvements for Tamworth Dressage Club, $2,500

Local sporting groups can find further information in relation to the grant online at https://www.sport.nsw.gov.au/grants/local-sport-grant-program

Applications for the grants close on Monday November 27 at 1pm.
