A 23-year-old has been charged over break-ins at eight NSW Rural Fire Service stations throughout the Tamworth area.

Police arrested the man after they located and seized a number of tools, ammunition, hoses and radios from a Balala property, allegedly linked to the RFS sheds and two commercial property break and enters.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 17 July 2023.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District have been investigating the thefts which have occurred over an 8-month period from sheds in Watson Creek, Duri, Namoi River, Gowrie, Dungowan, Currabubula, Loomberah and Tamworth.

In May this year, an 18-year-old man, identified as an RFS volunteer, was also charged over the break-ins after police seized property from a home in South Tamworth. He is currently before the courts.

Inquiries are continuing.
