The crown is coming back to the Tamworth Country Music Festival, if the community and Tamworth Regional Council have anything to say about it.
Mayor of Tamworth, Russell Webb, has thrown his support behind the initiative, eager to promote the festival, businesses, and the young talent in Tamworth.
“There has been a lot of community push to see the country music queen come back. I am guaranteeing it will have Council’s full support so it looks like it will return.” said Mr Webb.
The crown took a hiatus following COVID, with restrictions crippling the Queen Quest, however, it is hoped enough times has passed to get confidence back in the event.
“It was very hard to regenerate the interest that was needed, and it was hard to get the support be needed to make it happen.” said Mr Webb.
“I believe the interest we have now, in not only getting the Queen up and running, but from the community getting more involved in these events will certainly mean it will be easier to make it happen.”
The Queen of Country Music is an ambassador to the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and the quest provides invaluable networking opportunities for the young women who complete.
“It brings opportunity for young people to get involved and get some personal development in their own lives and their own futures.” said Mr Webb.
“Not to mention he mentoring they get for putting their hand up and being part of the queen quest.”
Former Queen of Country, Emily Lysaght, says the Queen quest is an integral part of Tamworth’s community, and is looking forward to its return.
“The Queen experience during the country music festival was a wonderful way to make friends, join in community events, and learn from leaders in our region.” Said Ms Lysaght.
“The personal development aspect gave us all a chance to flourish as young women in public settings.”
“I really enjoyed the lead up to the festival where we spent time learning from key people in our community and learning about yourself and growing in confidence.”
So, dust off those boots, ball gowns and hats, ladies. You could be our next Queen of Country in 2024.
