The home of Glen Innes and Deepwater Community Radio 2CBD FM will soon receive a major makeover and upgrade.

Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the NSW Stronger Country Communities Fund grant of $270,116 would be used to improve the accessibility of the radio station’s studios on Church Street, as well as provide a more usable space for additional community media services.

“This will be the most significant upgrade to the Radio 2CBD studios since the purchase and fit out of the old Baptist Church in late 2015,” Mr Marshall said.

“The station provide an invaluable source of local and regional news to the community and keeps people connected with what’s going on around them.

“This funding will increase the opportunity for 2CBD to deliver a variety of different types of community media, ensure people of all abilities can join in and future-proof the site so that it can serve the community well into the future.”

President of 2CBD FM David Lewis said that he was absolutely thrilled to be receiving the funding and was excited to for the project to get underway.

“This is an investment in our organisation and also an investment in independent and local media in our region,” Mr Lewis said.

“At any given time, there are between 35-40 volunteers involved in the day-to-day operations of keeping 2CBD on the air. Our volunteers will enjoy the improved facilities of the building.”

Local contractors will be engaged for the building work and major works are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
