A proposal to develop a new cotton gin at the corner of Wandobah Road and Coonabarabran Road at Yannergee, south of Gunnedah, has been put forward by the people who own Carrol Cotton.

Agri Hub, owned by John and Trudy Davies, have put forward the proposal for the new gin between the villages of Colly Blue and Premer. Their son, Scott Davies, now runs the business.

The proposed development will gin up to 30,000 tonnes of cotton each year for local growers and provide cotton seed to nearby feedlots. The gin will be built in stages, with the first stage being a storage area to store cotton bales. This will allow the new development to take and store bales before the gin is completed.

The gin will employ 6 people year round, swelling to 20 people for the 4-5 months in the middle of the year that is peak ginning season when it will operate for 24 hours a day. It is estimated it will cost $15.3 million to build.

Liverpool Plains Shire Council has published the details of the development proposal and has opened it up to community consultation. The application will be on exhibition until February 9, 2023. A copy of the application and accompanying plans will be available for viewing in Council’s Administration Building and on the website www.liverpoolplains.nsw.gov.au.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on 9 February 2023.
