The Tamworth Country Music Festival starts tomorrow with many people already in town for the major event, and the excitement is building with the announcement of who will host and perform at the Golden Guitar Awards made yesterday.
To be held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre on Saturday, 21 January, the country music industry’s night of nights will be hosted by multi-Golden Guitar winner and ARIA nominated artist, Travis Collins.
2022 ARIA Award winner for Best Country Album, Casey Barnes, along with fellow top nominees James Johnston and Amber Lawrence will headline a long list of artists set to perform at the Toyota 51st Golden Guitar Awards later this month.
Casey Barnes, James Johnston, and Amber Lawrence, as well as Adam Brand have all been nominated for six awards in 2023, following last week’s announcement of the five top-selling Australian Country Albums of 2022 as determined by ARIA charts data for last year.
Toyota Golden Guitar Awards Executive Producer, Peter Ross, said the stage is set for a star-studded night, with some of Australia’s biggest country stars ready to take to the stage.
“The calibre of talent performing at the 51st awards proves our country music industry is thriving and continuing to grow and we’re all excited for a fantastic night out.”
“This is Australian country music’s pinnacle event of the year and there’s no better way to celebrate the achievements of artists and the industry than at the Golden Guitar Awards.”
Also performing at the 2023 Golden Guitar Awards is Tamworth local and reigning Female Artist of the Year, Ashleigh Dallas, who is nominated for four awards, including Toyota Album of the Year and Traditional Country Album of the Year for her album In the Moment.
Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley, who are also up for four awards, including Country Music Capital News Group or Duo of the Year, will perform along with three-time nominee Kaylee Bell, and nine-time Golden Guitar winner Lyn Bowtell, 14-time Golden Guitar winner Luke O’Shea, and 2023 Male Artist of the Year nominee Andrew Swift.
The list of performers is rounded out by multi-Golden Guitar award winners Melinda Schneider and Dean Perrett, Billboard chart topping Bluegrass artist and 2023 dual nominee, Kristy Cox and Alt Country Album of the Year nominee, Kim Cheshire.
Tamworth Regional Council will present the Toyota 51st Golden Guitar Awards live on Saturday, 21 January 2023, from Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre. The Awards will also be livestreamed via the Festival website and Facebook page.
