A brand new festival is coming to Armidale in November celebrating our wonderful gardens and all things gardening.
The New England Garden Festival is being planned to be held at the Armidale Racecourse on the 18th and 19th November, 2023. An organising committee has been established and has written to all garden clubs in the New England area inviting them to get involved and support the new festival.
Lou Forsythe from the New England Garden Festival Committee said the plans include having exhibition gardens open for people to visit and competitions with many categories, including Bonsai and hanging baskets as another option for gardeners.
“We’re aiming to bring together gardeners, specialists and the community for fun and educational activities, along with a great range of retail therapy with a vast array of stall holders,” she said.
“We’re aiming to provide all the things that gardeners love to do or see, but can never get enough of!”
The festival will also include lots of activities for children and they are hoping for good crowds and lots of community involvement. Funds raised from the event will go to supporting local charities.
Organisers are inviting suggestions of what local garden enthusiasts would like to see at the event in terms of demonstrations and workshops, and appealing for stall holders and volunteers to help bring the festival to life.
Anyone interested in getting involved and volunteering for the festival should email newegf@gmail.com.
